EBS-Snorky
This subwoofer is similar in design to the snorky sub, but uses an EBS alignment
The working volume is doubled to 100litres and the tuning dropped from 28 to 26hz. The increase in port activity required increasing port diameter to 103mm and fitting flares to both ends. Whilst 13mm routed flares would have been sufficient, this was the perfect opportunity to fit a pair of 20mm heat molded flares

Extended Bass Shelf (EBS) alignment gives extension down to 24hz (-3dB point)
Here's the response as measured outside by RoomEQ Wizzard
Two 103mm ports keep velocity below 10 m/sec.
Flare-it was used to select the size of flare required. Using 20mm heat molded flares on the port exits, and 13mm donut rings on the intakes, builds in some headroom at 25hz
Cone excursion is within Xmax+10%

Donuts
The port intakes are fitted with donuts, effectively providing a 13mm flare. The internals of all joins are hand sanded to ensure there are no sharp edges that could whistle or otherwise contribute to turbulence. Notice the rollover on the inside edges of the shelf brace
Inside view
Ports are supported by shelf brace. The intakes have plenty of breathing room. Closed cell foam will be glued onto the top and bottom panels before the back is glued on. Notice how the slots in the side walls for the shelf brace stop short of the back of the box
Front view
Cabinet washed down ready for the new owner to apply the poly finish
Ports - side
The ports needed to be be bent 90 degrees to fit into the box. The shelf brace provides crucial support
Hot melt glue
This view shows how hot-melt glue can be used to hold the ports within the brace. Quite a gap can be filled
Flush mounted
Ports are flush mounted for a clean finish. Slight gap will be filled when the poly finish is applied
Amp recess
This view shows recess for amplifier. Rollover bit was run around opening for a smooth edge. Also visible is the closed cell foam glued to the floor to help cut down vertical resonances
Front panel
This view shows rebate for driver as well as flush mounting of ports
